Beginner Programs

Yamnuska's mountaineering programs are world famous.

The Canadian Rockies surrounding Banff, Lake Louise and Canmore provide a perfect testing ground for aspiring mountaineers and allow for incredible personal challenge and growth.

Many successful mountaineers have taken their first mountain training with Yamnuska. With weekend and week long programs, we have a program to suit your time allowance and budget.

 

Scrambling Skills - 2 days of basic skills and judgment for non-technical scrambling peaks. A great first off trail program for experienced hikers.

Snow and Ice Long Weekend - A 3 day program with two training days and a summit attempt at Mt Athabasca.

Intro to Mountaineering - Our signature 6 day mountaineering course.

Youth Mountaineering Course - 6 days of in depth skills training plus peak ascents designed for 15 - 17 year olds.

Wapta Ice Hike - A more casual mountaineering adventure for those who want to experience the thrill of glacier travel.

Bugaboo Ascents - We offer custom guiding and instruction programs in this spectacular mountain range.

Mount Athabasca Ascents - If our scheduled snow and ice long weekend programs do not fit your schedule we are happy to arrange a private training and summit day program for you.

Private Guiding & Instruction - We can tailor your mountain climbing or training objectives to meet your personal schedule and requirements. This can happen in location of your choice. Very friendly for beginners and experts alike. Our certified guides are leading climbers and professionals who can meet your training and climbing objectives.

Mountain Skills Semester

Our Mountain Skills Semester Program is the cumulative experience of over 30 years of professional guiding in the Canadian Rockies and internationally.
