Mountaineering, Climbing, and Skiing In The Canadian RockiesRock Rescue
This one-day course is designed to introduce or refresh the skills of Rock Rescue and will allow you an opportunity to practice these skills in a controlled environment under the watchful eyes of experienced Mountain Guides.
Course DetailsDates2008 : June 21 Price$135 CDN per person based on a minimum of 4 bookings. Price includes instruction and use of group climbing gear. Price does not include GST, personal climbing gear, accommodation, meals or transportation. Cancellation insurance is available for $10.00. Instructors & Group SizeEnthusiastic and extremely talented, your instructors hold climbing certification from the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides. Your safety and enjoyment are paramount to them. There will be a maximum of 12 students. Difficulty & PrerequisitesThe participant must be a competent belayer and have basic climbing skills as a minimum requirement. If you have the opportunity please prepare yourself by knowing how to tie a figure eight follow through, figure on a bight, clove hitch, prussic hitch, munter hitch and a blocking knot to tie off munter hitches. We will review all of these knots during the course. TransportationWe normally rely upon participants car pooling. Banff is a 1 1/2 hour drive west from Calgary. There are frequent buses from the airport and downtown, we can send details if required. Accommodation & MealsThese are your responsibility. There are lots of options available including campgrounds, hostels, B'n'Bs, motels and hotels! Check accommodation options on our links page for our recommendations. The Alpine Club Clubhouse (403 678 3200) is a good hostel here in Canmore with good facilities and reasonable prices. Food is not supplied. You will need lunch and something to drink . InsuranceThere is no charge for rescue. If we climb in Banff National Park you will need a day entry pass (c.$10) to qualify for free rescue. This pass can be obtained when we enter the Park. It is wise though to ensure that your health plan will cover you in case of illness or accident whilst here. Booking InformationPlease book as early as practical to avoid disappointment. We require full payment on booking. To avoid unnecessary cancellation penalties we suggest you take our cancellation insurance ($10), this must accompany your payment.
