Course Structure – 5 Days in the Selkirk Mountains
Day 1 – Arrival, Orientation & First Turns
We meet at Alpine Helicopters in Golden, BC for an equipment check, companion rescue review, and pre-flight safety briefing. A scenic helicopter ride takes us deep into the Selkirks and straight to Battle Abbey Lodge. After dropping our gear, we’ll catch a heli bump for our first powder turns before diving into advanced companion rescue practice — honing transceiver searches, probing, and shoveling skills right in the field.
Days 2–4 – Avalanche Training & Touring
Spend your days learning and applying advanced avalanche rescue techniques, snowpack evaluation, and terrain analysis—all while ski touring or splitboarding in world-class powder. Evenings feature lodge-based theory sessions and terrain planning for the next day.
Day 5 – Final Ski Day & Departure
Wrap up your training with one last backcountry tour before flying back to Golden.
