On Saturday (Nov 29) made my 1st backcountry ski excursion of the season to Taylor Lake with friends. We were the first skiers in this season and enjoyed surprisingly good snow on the slopes to the north of the Lake. Snow depths are around 60cm at that elevation (2300m).
Today (Monday Dec 1) we are getting very high SW winds that are shaking the house. Clearly a weather change on the way and we have heavy snow forecast for tomorrow. Following the snow temperatures will drop as low as -20C which will improve ice climbing conditions.
