Hi Everyone,
The world’s highest and most complex mountains appear to be ready for a full on climber assault in 2010! So far this year we have been receiving lots of requests from mountaineers looking to improve their overall skills or develop the necessary skills to be accepted on expeditions. Well, they have certainly called the right place as we have an incredibly skilled team who have already helped 5 climbers in January and February improve their chances of getting a shot at various summits this year.
Our approach to training is highly personalized and we have several ways to do it. Here are two very popular ones:
- Many expedition leaders require certification from a Mountain Guide that you are proficient in their pre-requisite skills. We will review this line by line with you and train you to the required standard.
- Even if you feel like you meet minimum expedition standards but you want to round out your skills, we will work on general mountaineering skills from beginner to advanced or focus on specific skills. Many climbers like this option as more training and advanced level skills significantly improve their chances of success.
Yamnuska is also very experienced at planning and running expeditions to mountain ranges all over the world. If you are considering your own expedition, call us and we can definitely improve your chances of success through either planning and leading the expedition for you or at a minimum getting you ready for a shot at your dream. You hear horror stories about unskilled and unprepared climbers who venture out into complex mountain ranges but it’s great to know so many people are looking at doing it up right. But then again we would expect nothing less from our guests!
Here is a link to a fun day at Hafner Creek for the Knucklebasher Ice Climbing Festival in Canmore a few weeks ago. The Rockies Ice here in Canada’s West is in excellent shape and our temperatures have made for some fantastic days of climbing.
Whether you want to try ice climbing for the first time or have your sights set on a big route, we can help you.
Get outside and enjoy our incredible mountains.
