Summer is in full swing here in the Rockies and we’ve had lots of adventurous guests come out and enjoy days in the mountains with us.
Yamnuska is proud to have some of the best guides and staff working on our programs and we couldn’t be happier to share some recent trip and guide reviews with you.
Mt. Temple Scramble, July 29, 2012 – Diane, Calgary, AB
“Our guide was absolutely amazing! If I were to take another course through Yamnuska I would definitely request him.
In the morning he made sure we had the correct equipment before leaving the office and went over what he was going to bring with him.
He stopped throughout our scramble to explain things, show us stuff, etc. He was very knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions we had.
This was my first time doing a scramble and Yamnuska helped me out so much! I wouldn’t have been able to complete it without you. Our guide always checked in with the people in our group to make sure they were okay.
I would definitely recommend Yamnuska!”
Intro to Mountaineering, July 21-26, 2012 – Krista, Renfrew, ON
“The Intro to Mountaineering Course was excellent. All pre-trip arrangements were good. I did send one email about footwear that took a while to get a response back but it did come. The program was very well organized and the pace was appropriate. I was very impressed with the professionalism of the guides. I will not hesitate to use Yam again. We’ve actually already booked the Wapta Traverse in March!
Loved the food and the menu. Even my 6’2″ husband with a ferocious appetite wasn’t hungry and that’s saying something! Food was delicious.”
Lake Louise Classics, July 21-23, 2012 – Jeff, Edmonton, AB
“Great guides, good attitude. You are lucky to have a guy like Grant on your staff. He is a true leader and professional.”
Outdoor Rock Intro, July 21-22, 2012 – Marty, Canmore, AB
“The instructors were excellent. Deryl was always in instructing mode and never relaxed as leader. He was very warm and friendly, but didn’t cross the line. He was always professional and safety aware. ..when Deryl was attending to others, Brad stepped in with authority, patience and good humour. They both seemed incredibly well-versed in technique and equipment. I appreciated them coaching us through particularly tough moves and also their genuine joy when we succeeded. Excellent instruction. I learned more than I thought I would and just enough to feel confident and not overwhelmed.
I really appreciated Deryl bringing an assortment of rock climbing guidebooks so that we could get familiar with how to read them. Nice attention to detail!”
Women’s Intro to Mountaineering, July 15-20, 2012 – Jude, Ottawa, ON
“Erica was an amazing guide! She was very patient when teaching us new skills, she is very professional, fun and friendly. This was the best course I have ever taken. She made me want to climb more mountains.”
Intro to Alpine Ice, July 7-10, 2012 – Landon, Calgary, AB
“Our guide was great, especially on the technical and ‘business’ side of things. He was an effective teacher and didn’t hesitate to show us something a few times if that’s what we needed to learn it well. I thought he did a great job of monitoring the group, evaluating our skill level and tayloring the days based on this. I.e. he realized we had a good grasp of the concepts so he let us lead ice pitches which was one of the best parts of the course for me.
I also thought it was great that Jay offered to try to help us out with beta if we are planning a trip. This will really help us get the most out of our future climbing trips and out of the course.”
We’d love to share more of these great reviews with you but it’s time to get out in the mountains! Happy adventures.
