Just finished up a fun filled 5 days with 6 students on our Rock Evolution Climbing Course. What a great bunch of people who made the week very enjoyable. The purpose of the week was to make that jump to endless freedom of possibilities that outdoor Rock Climbing can offer. At the beginning of the week we were reminded that winter can drop in for a “hello” at any time of the year, but that did not detour us from reaching our objectives.
The goals were to acquire the necessary skills needed to become a competent recreational outdoor sport climber and a seconding partner on a multipitch. The first three days we had our challenges trying to stay warm while we were busy learning how the gear worked, proper belaying techniques, developing movement skills, building anchors, cleaning anchors, tying all sorts of knots, understading how to lead climb and lots of top rope climbing. Also had nothing but laughs the entire week. Then on day four we went to Lake Louise were some of the best rock in western Canada can be found.
Here we got ready for our last day to learn what it takes to end the week with a classic multipitch on Kid Goat near Mt. Yamnuska. I’m extremely happy to have worked with such fun and exciting people as I watched them become safe and competent rock climbers. Come and join us on anyone of our rock programs with Yamnuska. We are always ready to help expand your skills in order to have a fun and safe day out in the Mountains.
