Once again this year, Yamnuska Mountain Adventures staff will be volunteering their time for the Calgary Tower Charity Rappel event. Members of our staff will lend their expertise to anchor and belay the 10 people who have each raised $10,000 for the once in a lifetime opportunity to rappel 626 feet off the tower.
The event which is held on September 20, 2010 is in support of the Sir Edmond Hillary Foundation which is committed to improving the quality of life of the Sherpa people of Nepal in the areas of Health Care, Education and the Environment.
On Sunday, September 19, 2010 the Sherpa Stair Climbing Challenge with Everest Summiteers Apa Sherpa (20 times to summit), Ang Dorjee Sherpa (14 times to summit), Mingma Tenji Sherpa (2000), Laurie Skreslet (1st Canadian), and Byron Smith (2000) will climb all 828 stairs.
