While most of us are putting away our ski gear and exchanging ski boxes for bike racks on our cars, the backcountry is still providing ample opportunities to get out and shred some awesome slopes! Spring skiing in the Rockies is amazing! Long days, great spring snow and sometimes amazing powder! Our directors, David Begg and Maria Cashin, took a group into the Campbell Icefields to take advantage of some great late season conditions, here is what they had to say:
“Just back from a great week at Campbell Icefields where 12 of us enjoyed 7 days of great skiing. We arrived on April 11th and the snow was crusty and moist and we feared the worst. However the clouds rolled in almost immediately and we were soon skiing in 10cm of new snow on a firm crust. Over the next 3 days another 50cm fell and we enjoyed late season powder in the trees. The sun returned for Wednesday and three days of glacier skiing followed. Check the video at:
“Sound like fun? Next April we’re off to Battle Abbey, a great little ski lodge located in British Columbia’s famous Selkirk mountains. Let us know if you’re interested, there’s still a bit of space!
