Yamnuska Mountain Adventures, General Manager Len Youden was recently asked to do a presentation to the attendees of the Recycling Council of Alberta 2014 Conference in Lake Louise, Alberta. Len’s presentation topic was “Sustainable Tourism in a Mountain Environment” where he outlined Yamnuska’s approach to ensuring future generations get to enjoy the mountain environment as we do today.
Yamnuska is a leader in several key aspects of sustainable tourism and Len shared the details around Yamnuska’s strategic and operational plan as it relates to sustainability. Our staff and guests are passionate about the mountains and we take our responsibility very seriously as custodians of our mountain environment.
Yamnuska is a leader in self propelled mountain adventures and is recognized as a provider of sustainable tourism activities in the Canadian Rockies. From vendor selection to our environmental policies, our organization works very hard to minimize our footprint on our sensitive mountain environment.
In many of our courses we have incorporated environmental policies within our curriculum to ensure our guests not only gain the technical skills they seek but also become familiar with best practices when travelling in the mountain environment. All of us at Yamnuska Mountain Adventures are passionate about our mountain environment and work hard to promote sustainable practices to our staff and the guests we have the privilege of sharing mountain experiences with.
Len’s presentation was a success with the conference attendees and we appreciated the opportunity to share our practices with other like minded individuals.
