Yamnuska Mountain Adventures is once again pleased to be a major sponsor of the Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation Calgary Tower Charity Rappel. For the last two years, Yamnuska’s guides have done the set up and safety rigging for this fun and exciting event. For the third year in a row, our guides take their normal comfort of working at heights in the mountains to heights in the big city.
Our sponsorship of this year’s event will see Yamnuska’s highly skilled mountain guides set up the ropes and rigging the day before the rappel. On the day of the rappel our guides will get guest rappellers properly equipped, conduct a safety overview, then supervise their 626 foot descent to the ground.
The event raises money for the Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation’s Charity organization. Each guest rappeller has earned the privilege to rappel the length of the tower by raising $10,000. If you are interested in the chance to rappel off the Tower, please visit the Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation’s Website.
The rappel will take place Thursday September 29, 2011. If you are downtown Calgary you’ll no doubt see these brave souls making the long trip down the tower. Yamnuska professional guides Dave Stark, Steve Blagbrough, Carl Johnston, Matt Mueller, Deryl Kelly and James Madden will be on top of the tower or at points in between on September 28 and 29.
